I feel like many people in the body modification community are really selective. If you don’t know what I mean by that here’s what I mean: If you are heavily modified, and someone who isn’t wants to talk to you, don’t treat them like shit. I completely understand if you’re busy at the time, and you can’t talk or something like that, but if you rude to them JUST because they aren’t heavily modified you are a jerk.
You might say, “Oh, hey, this bitch is butthurt.” Well, you know what? Yeah I am. Do you know why? Here’s why: When I was around 6-8 years old I wanted my septum pierced. I would walk around with fake jewelry (from the little machines in Kroger) in my septum. People thought I was a freak. A stupid little freak. When I got older, and I discovered that there were others out there who liked what I liked I got EXCITED. I thought, “OOOOO! I will have someone to talk to about piercings and tattoos and jewelry!!” Well, when I was younger and a fresh face I didn’t pay attention to all this mess, but now that I have sort of been in the community for around 4 or 5 years I’ve started to notice it more and more. All I wanted was someone to talk to, and when I get shot down by someone, it hurts tremendously. It feels like you belong nowhere. You know, sometimes I want to talk about anatometal and industrial strength.
I’m not sitting here saying you’re obligated to talk to everyone that comes up to you and grabs your arm asking if it hurt. I’m just saying be nice! There’s no need to hurt someone’s feelings just so you’ll look superior or whatever.
